The Writers & Actors Collaboration
Theatre Company

WAC Wednesdays

WAC meets every week to read new plays, which are read by the actors in the group. This gives writers a chance to hear their work read aloud and to see if it 'works'. We then discuss the play and explore how it could be taken forward, staged and produced. The writer also has a chance to ask any questions they have (What do you think of this character / scene / setting / style etc?) and the group can give their opinions. These meetings also give actors a chance to develop their sight reading skills and to become involved in any new productions right from the outset.

Last Meeting

Facilitated by Colin. Looked at Bill Kirton's play Wannabes, freely adapted from Moliere's Les Precieuses Ridicules. Some good feedback on the comedy of the piece. No-one really was terribly familiar with Moliere so Bill filled us in on various translations and productions (this version has been produced by other companies). It was felt that the play was a vehicle for comedy and therefore didn’t really have a story making it difficult to see who it was about. We talked about structure, plot and the need for the protagonist to have a goal.
